Any fan of co-op gaming is most likely a fan of the Halo series. Every single Halo game to date has had some form of co-op gameplay in it. Whether it's the split screen play on Halo 1 on the Xbox or the Online Co-Op of Halo Wars on the 360, it's been a staple of the series.
Fable 2's Knothole Island content was pretty successful, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that more downloadable content is planned for the game. IGN sat down with Peter Molyneux to discuss the game and where it's going.
I'd say Valve's Left 4 Dead is a bona fide hit. The four player co-op zombie survival game has sold over 2.5 million copies at retail. This does not include sales generated from Valve's online digital distribution platform, Steam, which recently saw a 3000% sales increase when the game was dropped in price.
Hola! Are you ready to bust some ghosts? After watching six minutes of leaked gameplay footage from the upcoming Xbox 360 version of Ghostbusters I sure am! Apparently someone snagged a some footage of the upcoming demo of Ghostbusters from Microsoft's PartnerNET, the developer and press version of Xbox Live. Sadly there's no co-op play on display here.
Doublesix games has announced that their coin-op style zombie game has been released on the PlayStation Network for the attractive price of $9.99. Burn Zombie Burn features two player local co-op play through three modes: Freeplay, Timed, Protect Daisy.

I'll get a few things straight as we begin: this story is quite "cutesy". After you read it, you'll probably think I'm just an indulgent father, who has an overinflated perception of his kids. You might also be thinking this tale has little to do with co-op. The first two might be true, but I think this whole story involved co-op on the deepest level. My sons and I have all enjoyed both Halo 3 and Halo Wars. I'm not quite sure why my youngest, especially, loves the games so much, but I will tell you this: being able to play the game with my kids, even when they are just watching, has really added to my own enjoyment of the game. This is what co-op is all about. It all started when we picked up Halo 3, after a long hiatus. We had some days off of school due to snow, and so we decided to play some games through to completion. My oldest son and I played through the last half of the campaign, in glorious split screen co-op. It was a good time; the game is one of the better co-op experiences available on the Xbox 360. Brandon, the eldest was the star, being far better at shooters than his old man. The little brother, Connor, ate it up too. Anytime Halo 3 came on, he dropped what he was doing and plopped down on the couch with us. He was actually quite helpful. He kept us informed as to where the bad guys were. He directed us back to revive one another. He howled in joy when we picked up dual weapons. I felt bad for the kid, and wished there was some way for him to play with us. Apparently, not being able to have a controller didn't dampen his enjoyment, though. One Saturday afternoon, Connor and I were home alone. He brought me a note, pictured below. Now, as a loving father, and a rather conservative one at that, I am in a quandary. Obviously, the boy loves Halo. I love him, I want him to be happy, and I love the game myself. Of course I want to let him play. On the other hand, the game is rated M! He's only seven, after all. According to the ESRB, that rating is for blood, gore, mild language, and violence. It was a serious dilemma. The final compromise? We turned the volume down, and had a discussion about how while killing aliens in a video game is acceptable, we never hurt anyone in real life. Even if they are a bloodthirsty, heavily armed Covenant trooper.
You know all those epic four player co-op Rock Band2 parties you've been having? The ones where your friends look through that slick Rock Band store and ask to purchase this song and that song? You know how you had to go out and buy a new plastic guitar because your buddy Frank the Tank was pissed at screwing up Green Grass and High Tides he smashed it over your coffee table? They are the reason your wallet is empty.
If for some reason you still haven't tried out the co-op goodness that is Crackdown, now is your chance to get in on the action for only $10. Amazon.com is having their deal of the day and Crackdown is marked down from it's normal $30 price point.
We had already brought word that a new Resistance 2 Patch and Map Pack would be hitting the PlayStation Network today, but we just unearthed some new info on a co-op mode thanks to the PlayStation Blog.
GDC 09 was the perfect time for Infinity Ward to take the shroud of secrecy of its upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sequel. It would have been the perfect time to announce and show of the game's co-op gameplay modes. Unfortunately we are only left with a teaser trailer that doesn't really show us much of anything except a release date.
