In their most recent Nintendo Direct, the eponymous titan of gaming spent a bit of time on Splatoon 2, the sequel to their squid/kid action... painter. The original Splatoon went over quite well, despite its home on the flailing Wii U, so it's quite natural that Nintendo would want to translate that success onto a console that people actually own.
For a scant few weeks, Overwatch players can relive the magic of wave-based co-op shooters. Following community feedback, which expressed a desire for both lore-specific seasonal events and co-op gameplay, Blizzard delivered the Uprising event.
Grasshopper Manufacture's 2012 shmup, Sine Mora, will see a re-release this year as Sine Mora EX. The game will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch touting some revamped visuals and a new 16:9 aspect ratio (and 4K support for PC/PlayStation 4). Perhaps the best new feature, though, is the local co-op.
Electronic Arts has announced Star Wars Battlefront II for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. The game will span all three "trilogies" of Star Wars titles allowing fans to experience all of the classic battles alongside some new ones. Listening to fan feedback the game has a full featured single player campaign that bridges the story of Return of the Jedi to The Force Awakens, dropping you in the boots of an Imperial elite special forces unit.
I thought I had had my fill of Monster Hunter style games after God Eater 2, but then in walks Toukiden 2. Locke and Matt joined me last week to slay oni or die trying.
The first big content update for the eight player survival title, The Wild Eight, has arrived. The game is still in Early Access, but this update adds some of the mystery and mystique that was previously teased.
From the title of the game, Scalpers: Turtle & the Moonshine Gang could be nothing else than a western themed video game or classic cartoon. Maybe it's a little of both. The twin-stick style shooter hit early access on Steam recently and drops players into the boots of several creatures in an overtly stylish and surprisingly polished game, despite the early version.
The folks over at CCP Games must've decided to take a quick break from their spreadsheet simulator, because there's a new update out for EVE: Valkyrie. It's a good thing, too. I hear that if you stare at EVE: Online's code for too long, strange runes start to scrawl themselves on your body, and they say things like "B12", and "Z53", and "=SUM(E20:F20)".
I've enjoyed Gazillion's action-RPG, free-to-play, loot grindfest, Marvel Heroes 2016, for some time over the past year and a half. The "Biggest Update Ever" this past January made, from my point of view, some welcome changes to the title, and also increased the speculation that a console port would be on its way. Last week, Gaz finally revealed that port as Marvel Heroes Omega.
Spring is here, and with it comes a ton of new content for MMOs as well as the ever-increasingly common rebirth of MMOs into a free-to-play model. This month for MMOCO, we have a cohesive theme of death and rebirth: TERA is getting a new Valkyrie class (the arbiters of life and death), Neverwinter has announced a new content expansio...
Once again, we find ourselves on the precipice of another fun-filled weekend. Well, that's not entirely true. It seems one member of the Co-Opticrew will be putting in hard labor for a second weekend in a row. I know I asked for an act of solidarity last weekend, but if this goes on too much longer, we may have to consider flying our copies of Halo at half-mast.
Season 10 for Diablo 3 kicked off last Friday and, thanks to the recent update, console players are now finally able to to enjoy the same content that PC players have been experiencing for the past few years. Even better than that, though, is the announcement that a closed beta test for the Necromancer class will be getting under way soon, and everyone is eligible to participate.
