The lives of Pit People are both short and cruel. Forced to wage war on a hexagonal battlefield, watching colossal monstrosities crush houses and enemies alike, charging through the air on giraffes held aloft by a handful of balloons. These are all elements in the terrible existence of a Pit Person. Or, at least, they are if this perplexing trailer is any indication.
Ladies and Gentlemen, in case you haven’t already seen the signs Star Wars fever is upon us and it’s looking to get a whole lot bigger this holiday season. With the recent launch of Disney Infinity 3.0, the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront game and Star Wars: The Force Awakens hitting theaters in December it is honestly the best year to be a Star Wars fan. So it looks like September, November and December are all covered with fantastic Star Wars stuff, but what about October? Are we really going to go a whole month with nothing to fulfill our Star Wars pallet? Well it looks like that is no longer the case thanks to EA.
Earlier this year Evolve was released and it pretty much fell by the wayside as gamers did not see the value in the 4v1 first person shooter. I myself had a blast with the game and though I agree the price was a bit high I never like I was robbed of my money while playing. Nonetheless those that have stayed away will get the chance to play the game for free this Labor Day weekend on both PC and Xbox One.
Hideki Kamiya isn't necessarily a name synonymous with co-op. The longtime game director is mostly known for fast-paced action games where a single instant can mean pulling off the sweetest 37-hit combo of all time, or getting knocked into a wall and then pounded into mush like a loser. The revelation of his newest game, Scalebound having a four player co-op mode where you team up to wreck havoc on colossal monsters was a bit of a shocker, especially since it gave off a very distinct Monster Hunter vibe.
So if you’re like me and my co-op buddies Destiny’s newest DLC The Taken King which launches on September 15th was a day to be extremely excited about. A day that you knew would be spent with friends for hours. Well it looks like after an interview creative director Luke Smith had with IGN that is less the case. Reason being is that Destiny's new raid, King's Fall, won't be available when The Taken King launches. The interview goes on to say that Bungie has an idea of when the raid will launch but that it defiantly will not be on day one.
It feels like every form of media consumption these days - from TV shows and movies, to video games and even music - has taken a turn to harken back to the days when I was a kid. Sure, my demographic is the primary consumer of goods these days, but I can’t help but feel the shadowy hand of pandering in the attempts to sell me something simply...
Much like the skeletal minions inhabiting its dungeons, Full Mojo Rampage claws itself from an obscure grave on Steam and onto PS4s and Xbox Ones everywhere. The four player co-op roguelike comes to us from Nicalis Inc of Binding of Isaac: Rebirth fame, and slaps you and your friends down in a voodoo inspired dungeon romp. Choose classes based on various Loa, or "voodoo gods" and hex your enemies into oblivion.
And so we've come at last to September. It's the time of year gamers begin to prepare for the annual "fall rush" of games. This summer drought is officially over my friends, but it wasn't all that bad. Below are some of the highlights, releases, and features in co-op gaming from August, 2015.
Ever wanted to tame a huge ape-like creature, then put a helmet on its head, ride it around, and have it toss you over walls in a strategic manner? Well, you're in luck, because ARK: Survival Evolved is promising to offer just that possibility.
The fourth and final DLC for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is day’s away and fellow Co-op gamers can look forward to the final chapter in the Exo Zombies story along with 4 new competitive multiplayer maps. The DLC will hit PS4 and PC gamers on September 3rd a full month after fans on Xbox One and Xbox 360 have experienced it. To most this date might not be all to important but if you are an avid COD player on the Xbox One it is worth noting that Reckoning will be the final DLC to get the 30-day exclusivity period on Xbox platforms. When Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 comes out this fall the roles will be reversed and PS4 owners will be the ones to get the DLC 30 days early.
Sword Coast Legends saw a recent delay, but those that pre-ordered the upcoming D&D RPG will be able to obtain early access on the PC. Starting September 11th those who ordered via Steam and the Official website should be able to dig into the game with access to multiplayer content and a few of the built in tools with the single player access coming towards the end.
Sometimes, you've just gotta get back to your roots. Whether it's (virtual) toy soldiers, weekends in nature, or spiritual successors, at least a few of us want to hop a bit backwards in time and rediscover what really makes us happy. The rest of the crew seems to already have this "happiness" thing figured out, though, so they're exploring metroidvanias and anime games galore. Check it out:
