If Saints Row now exists as a parody of open-world crime games, Sunset Overdrive is a response to the more realistic shooters of our time. Their E3 Trailer went out of its way to poke fun at gritty FPSes, then cut to a dude bouncing off of umbrellas and grinding on rollercoaster tracks. All the while hosing down energy drink tainted mutants with a variety of bizarre ordinance.
Just about a month ago, we told you guys that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite would be coming to iOS in North America. We were a bit surprised, but it was of the pleasant variety. Color us a bit surprised again, because we didn't know that "coming soon" meant early July - as in late last week. MHFU is now available on iPad and iPhone.
The Bandwagon Effect is full force over at Hyrule Warriors. Once series mainstay Impa hopped into battle the floodgates opened for pretty much anybody to come on down. Especially since this title is "non-canonical," pretty much anybody can throw in their bid to commit genocide on bulbins.
The Chilean based development studio, ACE Team, has put out quite the intriguing repertoire of games. Their latest venture, Abyss Odyssey, moves into the world of fighting games - with its own twist. Players will select one of three fighters but rather than fight against other players, they'll team up to explore a randomly generated dungeon.
There's not much coming in July for co-op gamers, or video games in general. We'll likely be looking to the indie scene to get our new gaming fix for most of the summer. We've got one of those this week, and it looks like silly, stupid fun.
My first foray into the Sniper series was with the Nazi Zombie Army four player co-op titles released by Rebellion a few years back. These spin off games, while a lot of fun in their own right, didn't capture exactly what the Sniper Elite series was all about. While NZA still included the over the top slow motion kill cams that made the series ...
Most modern phones and cameras have a panorama option that lets you take a photo in the round, but you will always have some mate who fidgets or a long dog in the photo. Take a minute to relax and look at the new Panoramic views of Destiny; Bungie know what to do.
When you're short on time and you need a quick fix of zombie slaying action, look no further than a twin-stick action shooter, Second Chance Heroes. While there is lots of room for the game to improve upon and evolve in the future, what we got for the PC version is quite a fine game to decompress and simply enjoy....
Microsoft and Sony console Call of Duty: Ghosts players got a sizable patch this week to fix certain multiplayer and co-op issues, as well as some tweaks to weapons and in game aesthetics.
Every year after E3, a group of Game Critics from various sites around the net form a ritualistic cabal known only as the Game Critics Awards. Their purpose: to dole out various honors to the playable games featured at E3, anywhere from "Best Role Playing Game" to "Special Commendation for Innovation." The highest possible achievement is, of course, the "Best In Show" award. This year, this prestigious title went to the hotly anticipated co-op monster hunting adventure: Evolve.
At just shy of a month after hitting Xbox consoles, Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion is now available for PS3, PS4, and PC. The DLC features a third installment in the episodic Extinction co-op mode, as well as four new multiplayer maps.
In the US of A, we are celebrating our independence in the only way we know how - by consuming massive quantities of processed meat in tube packages that are then grilled, and then detonating colorful explosives. Today also marks the release of Second Chance Heroes, so kicking zombie butt while playing as Abraham Lincoln and with a bunch of friends is also a good way to celebrate.
