October just got a lot more scary. The beta for Dark Souls II launches October the 12th for PS3 users. Of course, you'd know if you were in it by now since invites went out on October 8th. If you are not one of the unlucky fools who have to plunge into that terrifying world before the rest of us, don't worry! A second wave of beta invites will be sent out on the 22nd for access on the 26th. And for anyone that dodges that bullet, March is just a few months away.

Trendy Entertainment has dropped some of the more controversial features from its upcoming tower defense sequel Dungeon Defenders II, namely the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) features. In its place, fans get more of what fans want!

If you’re a David Cage fan then the moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here. Beyond: Two Souls has hit the shelves and is accompanied by an appropriately dramatic and enticing launch trailer. The trailer offers little in terms of new developments, opening with  Jodie joining the CIA’s military school and offering a glimpse into her training, a familiar seen that has been in most of the game's marketing thus far.

Remember when Terraria was abandoned by its creator? Psyche! A massive update was recently released, adding so much new content it's worth starting a new map just to see how things have changed.

As a rule, movie tie-in games are pretty awful; Aliens: Colonial Marines, R.I.P.D., Star Trek - all are co-op, all based on movies and all pretty poor.  They also happen to be coming on sale between 8-14th October over on XBLA.  If you need proof that some movie games can be good Guardians of Middle Earth is also on offer.

From the good amount of time trying out the game with Nick, I can totally see Super Mario 3D World as the true upgrade to the New Super Mario Bros. series. Don’t get me wrong, 2D Mario titles are usually fantastic, but the same-old formula is now changed for the better here and it should stay this way going forward. For one, I’m not hel...

I’m probably one of the few gamers out there that still defend the Sonic the Hedgehog brand to this day, so I was excited to see if both Sega and Nintendo could make this title the next stage for the franchise. Over the last few months, Sonic Lost World has been compared with the Super Mario Galaxy titles over and over again, in that Sonic travels between various planetoids to reach the end goal. But all I was curious to see was: does the game stay true to Sonic as a character?

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is the second in the modern Donkey Kong Country series, following Donkey Kong Country Return’s success on both the 3DS and Wii. We had a chance to try out the game via a meeting with Nintendo and relive the glory days of Donkey Kong on the SNES, and we certainly weren’t disappointed with what we saw....

As with Microsoft’s tour of the US, Nintendo is also stopping around the country to promote their line of Wii U and 3DS titles. Last Thursday, we scheduled a meet-up with them to discuss some of their upcoming co-op games and get a crack at them ourselves.

Crack open an ice cold Old English and pour it directly onto the street. The MMORTS Battleforge is going offline permanently October 31st of this year. It's always a bummer every time an MMO closes its doors for good. No matter how many people still play in the end, there is an excellent chance that folks made allies and built friendships in game. Not to mention spending countless hours grinding for greater rewards that they will never see again.

Gamers looking forward to Killzone: Shadow Fall might be in for a surprise if they decide to go the digital route. The digital version of the PlayStation 4 launch title weighs in at about 50GB, but it’s not all bad news. The sheer size of the gameshows just how much detail is in it, with Sony’s Fergal Gara telling Eurogamer, &ldq...

Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man is a fantastic slice of pulp science fiction that tells a series of short stories via the medium of tattoos.  Ubisoft has probably read the book if the latest TV Spot for Assassin's Creed 4 is anything to go by.  Look into these trailer tattoos, but turn away before it is too late.
