It has been over three years since indie developer Tragnarion released The Scourge Project. Fast forward to present day and we have Scourge: Outbreak, and it isnt going to cure those summer doldrums. Stay outside kids because this is one of the most generic third person shooters to grace a television. Plagued by technical issues and shoddy AI, Sco...
Today we continue our week long celebration of the launch of Co-Optimus 4.0 with more giveaways. How would you like to own every single game Arcen Games have created for the PC? Enjoying the co-op goodness of not one, not two... but six co-op titles. Today we've got three packs to give away that feature one copy of each of their unique titles.
Earlier yesterday, the latest title update for the free-to-play cooperative shooter Warframe went live. Title Update 9 brought a host of changes to the game, namely in the form of additional missions and a new robot-ninja for your pleasure. The new robot-ninja, codenamed NOVA, was created by the community through the Design Council. The Design Council is a group of users within Warframe who actively work and support the game, and they were the ones entrusted with designing this latest robot-ninja.
That shambling, shuffling noise is not the sound of the latest 4 player zombie map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, but the slow progress of its release on PC and PS3. The Vengeance DLC has been available to download on 360 for weeks, but has yet to arrive on these other platforms. The end of days is in sight with news that Vengeance will be met on August 1st for $14.99, or as part of a season pass.
Continuing to backpedal themselves out of the SimCity debacle, EA is considering to offer players an offline mode in the future. A survey unleashed by Maxis described what could be coming at a later date, but wanted to know what the players wanted first.
Being one of Nintendo’s current flagship titles, it’s no wonder that Pikmin 3 is getting the special treatment it deserves, and only a couple of weeks until launch at that! To celebrate its impending arrival, Pikmin 3 will be available to play at Gamestop next week, allowing gamers to get their hands on this Wii U title sooner than expected.
The summer keeps going and going and going. This week we have some licensed movie games, Serious Sam gets a collection, and Dynasty Warriors spawns another sequel. In awesome news, I saw Pacific Rim over the weekend. It was better than I anticipated, but not as good as I wanted it to be. I hope it does well enough at the box office to warrant a kick-ass Voltron movie. Dare to dream.
Crackdown 1 and Crackdown 2 are some of the most co-op fun I've had this generation of gaming. The open world game gave you the "keys to the city" and a super powered agent to do whatever you wished. It appears that Microsoft has plans for the franchise on Xbox One, with the iconic orb from the game appearing during their Xbox One reveal back in May.
As we told you last week, we've got a brand new website. It's been rewritten from the ground up to better serve your cooperative videogame needs. We have big plans moving forward and we're not done with the improvements, phase 1 was simply laying the groundwork.
Move over Captain Olimar, there is a new crew in town in the form of Alph, Captain Charlie and Brittany. Each of them appears in the upcoming Pikmin 3 and believes they can do the best job in herding, collecting food and sending Pikmin to an untimely and gruesome end. Check out the new trailer to see the threesome in action.
While our focus here at Co-Optimus has been and always will be cooperative video games, from time to time, we cover co-op tabletop game news as well. A hard to find, out of print co-op board game, Wok Star, is in the final hours of a successful campaign on Kickstarter. The initial print run in 2010 sold out quickly, and for the second print, publisher Game Salute took the crowd funding route to get the game into more gamers' hands.
With the multitude of games getting released these days, both from major development studios and independent ones, it's easy for a great game to go under the radar. Such was almost the case for Risk of Rain, an action/adventure platformer with rogue-like elements that supports 4 player local co-op on PC. Fortunately, Matthew Griffin of Yeti Trunk, the developers behind Wanderlust: Rebirth, shot us an email to not only bring the game to our attention, but also let us in on a bit of exciting co-op news. Specifically, that he's working with the game's developers to add online co-op to the game.
