Tripwire Interactive has done a terrific job of supporting Killing Floor 2 since the co-op FPS launched on PC and consoles more than four years ago. Every year, the game receives multiple new maps and additions that help keep the cooperative experience fresh and addictive. The latest free update, 'Interstellar Insanity,' adds a new map...
Zombie Army 4, Rebellion's co-op shooter, isn't shy about downloadable content. The game is currently in the middle of Season 3 of its post-release DLC. A new premium mission has just landed along with cosmetic items and weapons. Most excitingly, though is the addition of four playable characters from Valve's Left 4 Dead series. And eve...
We've been overwatching Red Solstice 2: Survivors since we checked out the game's alpha a month ago. Now in its final form we dive into the full co-op experience with our squad of four to take on some of the single player story and into the meat of the game's skirmish mode.
One of the bigger nostalgia trips for gamers of a certain age/generation is the Dark Alliance series, which had their heyday in the PS2/Original Xbox/Gamecube era. These action-RPGs provided a Diablo-like experience long before Diablo III was even a twinkle in Blizzard's eye. Today, a new entry, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, has emerged for PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Series, and initial response is... well, it's not great.
When we reviewed Earth Defense Force: World Brothers, the recent EDF spin-off from Yuke's and D3 Publisher, we mostly had a great online co-op experience. The Steam version of the game, however, inexplicably suffered from region-locked lobbies. (The PlayStation and Switch versions weren't affected.) Workarounds will no longer be necessary when playing with folks from other places, thankfully, because the region locking has now been fixed!
E3 2021 has come and gone, and the Summer Game Fest is still kind of going, but in the flurry of news and excitement over big name titles coming out in the next year or two, there are always a few that slip by. Here's a quick round-up of some co-op titles to keep an eye on as time marches inexorably onwards.
The first Aragami was a slick co-op ninja game, though the combat could have been better. Developer Lince has taken that to heart with Aragami 2, which promises improved movement and combat as well as 3-player online co-op. The game is due out on September 17. Even better for Xbox fans, it will be launch on Xbox Game Pass as well. Araga...
SEGA and Amplitude Studios' ENDLESS universe consists of multiple games such as Endless Space and Dungeon of the Endless. The next game in the series will be ENDLESS Dungeon, which is totally a different game than Dungeon of the Endless. It's actually a greatly expanded spiritual successor set in the same universe, which we learned from a p...
When Robot Entertainment released Orcs Must Die! 3 out of nowhere last year, the news was bittersweet. Many of us were glad to see a new game in the co-op action-tower defense series but less excited about it being a Stadia exclusive. Thankfully, it was only a timed exclusive, and Orcs Must Die! 3 will now be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam in July.
First announced last year, the hectic lumberjack party game Lumberhill is now available on Steam. The concept seems to be "Overcooked, but with lumberjacks." Having played some local and online co-op in the final release, I can affirm that chopping down trees and wrangling sheep with friends actually makes for a very good time.
"Countryballs" is an art style/meme in which countries are depicted as flag-adorned balls. It's also the basis for Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, a Steam Early Access game that is also coming to Xbox later this year. Where else can 4 players team up online to roll and platform through historically themed levels? Bang-On Balls is a 3D p...
What if the classic film and short story The Running Man was a cartoony Roguelike shooter? It would look a lot like DeathRun TV, an upcoming game from British indie developer Laser Dog and publisher Merge Games. DeathRun TV will feature cutesy art, lots of blood, dramatic slow-motion jumps, and 4-player local co-op.
