First announced in March of this year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection has finally arrived on consoles and PC. The collection boasts 13 classic TMNT games and a deep-dish serving of bonus materials that would make any other retro compilation green with envy. What's more, 6 of the included games have local co-op, and three of them support online co-op to boot. That's a lot of bang for your nunchuck!
In June of 2021, WayForward announced a prequel to River City Girls called River City Girls Zero. The Switch version of Zero arrived in February of this year, but the wait has been much longer for other platforms. Today at the Game Realms store in Burbank, California, WayForward held a Q & A session for the RCG series. Attendees and Twitch viewers gained fascinating insights into the development of both River City Girls Zero and 2, plus we learned when the two games are coming out.
What a great year for fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Dotemu's TMNT: Shredder's Revenge was a smash hit on the gaming front, and Netflix's Rise of the TMNT animated movie pleased Rise fans and non-fans alike. Konami is ready to do its part as well. TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection arrives on consoles and PC on August 30, c...
Back in May, D3 Publisher announced an August Japanese release for Earth Defense Force 6. Time flies, as do hornets, drone ships, dragons, and other deadly things. EDF6 has now launched on PlayStation 4 and 5 in Japan. The new game builds on everything players loved about Earth Defense Force 5 while improving graphics, adding better environmental detail and destruction, new uniforms for all four playable classes, creepy new enemies, and lots more. No western release has been announced for EDF6 just yet, but we’re here with quick impressions and tips for importing!
The venerable Puzzle Bobble series (a puzzle game spin-off of Bubble Bobble) has seen many iterations over the years, including the pretty decent Puzzle Bobble 3D. That game wasn’t quite as refined as we'd prefer, but the newly announced Puzzle Bobble Everybubble looks like a return to form. It will feature traditional 2D Puzzle Bobble graphics and gameplay, plus four player local co-op! Everybubble is due out exclusively on Nintendo Switch in 2023.
Over the last few years, Atari and developers AdamVision Studios and SneakyBox have been slowly but surely creating new sequels to classic Atari console and arcade games. The latest such release is Yars: Recharged, a new take on Yar’s Revenge, the Atari 2600 shoot ‘em up from 1982. Yars: Recharged looks slicker and deeper than the origi...
Try to count them: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II, Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Definitive Edition, KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series, Spidersaurs, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium, River City Saga: Three Kingdoms, and a ton of Arcade-ports for PlayStation 4 by City Connection as well as the usual steady stream released by Hamster Corp. It's safe to say that July was quite a month for gamers who have already been around the block for a decade or two. Even without a thick pair of nostalgia-glasses, it's always nice to see beloved franchises and genres make grand returns on modern platforms in some form or another. These returns are good not just for us to enjoy them again, but also to enable a whole new generation to fall in love with them.
In 1993, Natsume licensed the rights to create sequels to Taito’s single-player Kiki Kaikai arcade game. While the sequels retain the Kiki KaiKai name in Japan, they go by Pocky & Rocky in English markets. The first Pocky & Rocky for Super Nintendo added 2-player co-op, a feature retained in the recently released Pocky & Rocky Res...

MultiVersus is a highly anticipated free-to-play Super Smash Bros.-style fighting game from Warner Bros. After a closed beta period followed by an early access period for premium bundle owners, the open beta has arrived. What should be a celebratory launch day has been somewhat mired, however, by what appears to be a broken party system. Update: Thankfully, the party and co-op issues were resolved by the next day.
Digital games are more convenient than physical games, and usually cheaper too. Still, there's something about collecting physical games that appeals to many gamers. Preordering limited physical editions directly from boutique labels is always an option, but sometimes retailers offer the same editions for a better price. That's certainly the case with Best Buy, which currently has 14 Nintendo Switch titles from Limited Run up for preorder, including TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, Double Dragon Neon, and several more co-op hits.
