Teaching an old dragon new tricks

Divinity: Dragon Commander Preview

Larian Studios are a talented group of individuals who are best known for their Divinity series of games here in the West. Their creative and ambitious staff draws upon decades of RPG's, table top, strategy, and other games. They have a very intriguing game on their hands at the moment titled Divinity: Dragon Commander. At it's core, Dragon Commander is both a turn-based and real-time strategy game. It also integrates FPS mechanics, branching narratives, and even at times dating-sim elements. In theory, it sounds like a Frankenstein mashup of genres. In practice, the elements actually fit together quite nicely, and the delivery is fantastic and presented in an interesting yet tidy package.

The greatest disaster of all

SimCity Patch Disables Cheetah Speed Among other Features

It was only this morning we told you how server woes continue for EA's SimCity. Many users are unable to connect, join regions, and play the basic game. There are long wait times similar to an MMO for users as they attempt to play the game.  Unfortunately things seem to have gone from bad to worse as the first major patch for the game has been released. Patches are normally a good thing - but in this case - not so much.

A most ghoulish guardian arises

New Guardians of Middle Earth Character - Barrow-Wight Lord

Guardians of Middle Earth has been a very surprising title for the XBLA and the PSN. it has attempted, and in many ways suceeded, to bring the wildly entertaining world of MOBA to a home console. As a part of the season pass model, numerous guardians have been unleashed since the game made its debut. The latest addition to this cast of legendary heroes and villains is the Barrow-wight Lord. Here is the official description for the lord of terror:

One horde of zombies over the line

Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army Co-Op Review

The Nazis are back! ...in a manner of speaking. After soundly thrashing them in Sniper Elite V2, Hitler has enacted "Plan Z" and raised his fallen soldiers across Europe. Now you (and up to three of your friends) must battle your way out of the nightmare. Hey, I've heard worse premises for games. With Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army, Rebellion has placed far more emphasis on the co-op portion than in previous entries, but does their sniping mechanic hold up well against the damned?

Creeeeeeeeeeepy

Dead Space 3's Awakened DLC Arrives March 12th, Hands on Impressions

Dead Space 3 was a solid co-op experience, though it may not have been the frightening one that many had hoped it could be.  We had known well before launch that a new add-on campaign was in the works for the game, but today we have all the gory details of it.  It's called Dead Space 3: Awakened and it's a $9.99 piece of premium DLC that takes place after the events of the game.  We recently went hands on with the DLC and came back with some impressions of the much creepier and darker content you'll find.  There may be some minor spoilers ahead.

Also, many other things too odd for words

Zeno Clash II Trailer Shows Plenty of Punching

The first person melee brawler Zeno Clash, which is second only to Mirrors Edge in its ability to cause motion sickness, has a sequel on the way. Zeno Clash II looks just as bizarre and intriguing as the original, and as the trailer below illustrates, in the world of Zenozoik it's perfectly acceptable to replace your lower lip with a painter's palette.

Wii U owners shouldn't hold their breath

Minecraft Could See a PlayStation Network Release

A little game called Minecraft could eventually make its way to PlayStation Network. The exclusivity deal between Microsoft and developer Mojang that has kept the console version locked on Xbox 360 will one day come to end, at which point Minecraft lead developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten said a PSN release would be considered. As for a Wii U version, the official word is "very unlikely".

The latest info on the server palava

SimCity Still Struggling with Unnatural Server Disaster

Games used to be all about buying a copy off the shop shelf and taking it home, unwrapping the ridiculously tight plastic and smelling the manual.  Those days are increasingly over as games can be accessed digitally.  In theory, this should lead to a seamless buying to playing workflow; unless the game is SimCity and you need to be connected to the EA servers at all times to play.  Servers that are currently not working very well...

Looking kinda weird

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Coming This Summer

Ah, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I can probably sing the theme song, if you want --and not that crappy new stuff. I'm talking pure, unadulterated, 1987 choice-cut awesome. Too late. It's in my head now, and it will reside there for the duration of this post. Activision just announce a new TMNT game. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows will be available for digital download on the XBLA, PSN, and PC later this summer. Four players can don the reptilian shells of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo in four player online co-op.
